NCYA WINTER LEAGUE RULES(2014-2015) There will be a $2 Charge for anyone over the age of 14. This is to pay Refs and assure each kid get an award at the end of the session!Please let your parents know and also what that money goes to. This is how we are able to keep our league affordable for all teams. Thanks In Advance Fouls • High school rules apply. A player is fouled out after 5 fouls. Free Throws • No Free throw violations for 1st and 2nd grade boys. However, they must start behind half court (like a Technical). • All “traditional” three-pointers will be as normal – if the original shot is made and the player is fouled in the act of shooting, the shooter is given a single free throw – 1 point if made. • Each half of play is 15 minutes in length – the clock will run non-stop until the last 2 minutes of the second half. • Each team gets 3 – One min timeouts per game • There are only one overtime. • In overtime, each team is provided an additional single timeout to be used in all overtimes on top of what each team has already. • In overtime 1: it will be 2 minutes in length – the clock runs for the first 1 ½ minutes. • If there is no winner after overtime then free-throw shot out occurs. 5 free-throws are shot by both teams. If no one wins game ends in a TIE! -1st thru 3rd grade cannot press in the first half. Once ball has been secured, the defense team must retreat to ½ court. 3rd grade can press in second half. • Any team leading by 20 points or more is prevented from guarding in the backcourt – this applies in either half. Mercy Rule • If a team is leading by 20 points or more in the second half, the clock will continue running for the entire half. Misc. Notes • Each game site will have a Site Supervisor present – this person can assist with any issues, questions, and to help with any unusual situations. • Each team must provide 1 person for the score table – to run the board and to handle the score-sheet. _ 2 minute warm up and half-time. This is regardless of when the previous game ended. . Teams may have any number of coaches on the bench but only the head coach may address the officials. Any team that breaks this rule will be warned the first time and the second consequence is only the head coach will be allowed on the bench for the remaining of the season. . 3rd-6th grade boys will use a girls basketball. 7th-8th grade will use a mens basketball.
